Vol. 310 No. 5

Written Answers. - Old Age Pension Application.

244.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why an old age non-contributory pension applied for by a person (details supplied) in County Offaly last September, has not yet been granted.

There is no trace of an application for non-contributory old age pension having been received from the person in question. However, a claim for contributory old age pension was received from him on 27 November 1978 through the local social welfare officer. There are no contributions paid or credited on his behalf under the insurance number furnished by him on his claim form and a search of the Department's records has failed to disclose insurance for him under any other number. In the circumstances, the deciding officer has had to disallow his claim.

The question of his entitlement to non-contributory old age pension will now be investigated and I will let the Deputy know the outcome as soon as a decision has been reached in the matter.
