Vol. 310 No. 5

Written Answers. - Postman's Wages.

246.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he considers £37 per week, without pension rights or security of employment, an acceptable wage for an auxiliary postman.

Auxiliary post-men are part-time employees and are paid at hourly rates for attendances which vary from 18 to 35½ hours weekly. Thirty-seven pounds a week are the current wages for a weekly attendance of about 28 hours. The pay rates of auxiliary postmen are settled under the scheme for conciliation and arbitration for the civil service.
