Vol. 310 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wave Power Research.

20.

asked the Minister for Economic Planning and Development the amount of public money spent in the last financial year on research on wave power in Ireland.

Various proposals are currently being evaluated for domestic research and development projects and for participation in international projects in the area of wave power research. Expenditure on these projects will not arise until 1979 and subsequent years. No public money was as yet spent on research in this area in Ireland in the financial year ended 31 December 1977.

I appreciate this is a slightly different question and I will not make a fuss if the Minister does not want to answer it. Is any money being spent on research in tidal power?

That is a separate question.

I am not so aware. I should like an opportunity to confirm that.
