asked the Taoiseach the average industrial earnings for each of the past five years, to the latest date for which figures are available; and how these figures compare with present industrial earnings in terms of purchasing power.

The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the following table. The latest period for which official statistics on industrial earnings are available at present is March, 1978.
