Written Answers. - County Tipperary Water Scheme.

252.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position regarding the implementation of the group water scheme at Knocknaveigh, New Inn, Cashel, County Tipperary; the proposed number of houses to be served; the capital cost of the scheme; and the level of State and local authority financing, and the likely completion date.

The design for this scheme which will serve approximately eleven houses and cater for a number of farm connections was recently approved by both my Department and by Tipperary (SR) County Council. A special local authority contribution of £12,650 was sanctioned by my Department in respect of the provision of larger pipe sizes on the scheme as requested by the council.

My Department's supervising inspector for the area recently contacted the group and advised them to seek quotations for the carrying out of work. When these are received, arrangements will be made to cost the scheme and allocate grants if in order. Grants will be based on two-thirds of the unit cost subject to a maximum of £300 for each grant-eligible domestic supply and two-thirds of the unit cost subject to a maximum of £200 for each farm connection. I am not in a position to say when the scheme will be completed.
