Vol. 310 No. 8

Written Answers. - Circus Licences.

234.

asked the Minister for Labour if licences are necessary for circuses and touring shows coming from other countries for tours in Ireland; and, if so, the policy of his Department in connection with the issuing of such licences.

Since 1 January 1978, work permits are not necessary in the case of EEC nationals who wish to take up employment in this country.

Each application for a work permit in the case of non-EEC member state nationals is considered on its merits. However, it has been the practice to grant work permits in respect of artistes coming to the country for short-term stays.
