Vol. 310 No. 9

Written Answers. - Roadside Trading.

159.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy when it is intended to introduce legislation to regulate roadside and street trading.

The Government recently approved proposals for legislation to regulate all forms of casual trading. As the drafting of this legislation posed certain problems and in view of the urgency of the need for the introduction of legislation relating to sales from temporary retail outlets I have decided that the proposed legislation should take the form of two Bills. The first measure will deal with sales from temporary retail outlets and the second will deal with roadside and street trading. I hope to be in a position shortly to introduce the first Bill and I am confident that the second Bill will be introduced in the next session of the Dáil.
