Vol. 310 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Roscommon Sewerage Scheme.

181.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will state, in relation to Knockcroghery sewerage scheme, County Roscommon, (1) the number of houses to be serviced, and (2) the amount of State funds which will be allocated to this project; and, in relation to the pollution being caused to the river flowing through the town, if there are any short to medium term measures to combat this problem, pending the completion of the scheme.

Knockcroghery sewerage scheme will serve approximately 25 houses initially. The question of finance for the construction of the scheme will not arise until tenders have been obtained for its construction. It is a matter for the local authority to consider whether any short to medium term measures are feasible to abate any pollution of the stream pending construction of the scheme. The council has been asked to advise the Deputy of the position.
