I have seen reports of a shortage of computer personnel despite the efforts of the organisations directly concerned with the training of such personnel, including AnCO.
The number of live vacancies for computer personnel in the private sector, notified to the offices of the National Manpower Service, is at present 36. Employing organisations are not required to notify the National Manpower Service of all vacancies arising, and information available from other sources indicates a substantially higher demand for computer personnel.
Following consideration of reports made to me on the skill supply situation generally I have asked the Manpower Consultative Committee to give priority to the question of skill shortages.
