Vol. 310 No. 9

Written Answers. - Non-Contributory Pension Payment.

92.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare, in the case of a person awaiting the stamping of a deed of transfer, if he will consider the payment of a non-contributory pension from the date that the deed is signed in the presence of a solicitor and not until after it is stamped by the Stamping Office of the Revenue Commissioners.

Appeals officers, who are the final deciding authority in relation to claims to non-contributory pensions, normally require that a deed of transfer of land should be stamped before accepting it for the purpose of a claim. I should point out, however, that a pension awarded following the stamping of a deed is paid from the date on which the deed was signed, provided the claimant was otherwise qualified on that date.
