Vol. 310 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Galway Disability Benefit.

96.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in County Galway, who has applied for sickness benefit for the past three months, has to date not received any benefit; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person referred to by the Deputy was not entitled to disability benefit at the dates of his claims as he had no contributions in the 1977 contribution year which governed his title to benefit. The non-stamping of the contribution card is presently being investigated and his employment during the 1977 contribution year has been confirmed. Contributions have, therefore, been treated as paid for the purpose of the claims to disability benefit. All disability benefit due in accordance with medical evidence received has now been paid.
