Vol. 310 No. 9

Written Answers. - Public Transport Licences.

116.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if he will grant appropriate public transport licences to suitable applicants who are willing to provide a public transport service in areas where those charged with the responsibility have shown themselves to be unable or unwilling to provide such a service.

In examining applications for passenger licences I am required by statute to have regard to the need for the service in the light of existing services already provided on or near the route. Where no services are provided either by CIE or a licensed private operator I am prepared to grant a licence to a suitable applicant.
