Vol. 311 No. 2

Written Answers. - Local Authority Grants and Loans.

116.

asked the Minister for the Environment the manner in which grants and loans are made available to local authority tenants waiting to instal fireplaces.

A grant for the installation of not more than one fireplace in a house which has none is available to the tenant of a local authority house under the Department's house improvement grant scheme, provided the local authority have no objection.

Similarly, a loan is available from the local authority towards the balance of the cost of the work.
