Vol. 311 No. 6

Written Answers. - Sheep Scab Cases.

183.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the number of cases of sheep scab reported (a) in the year ending 31 January 1978, and the year ending 31 January 1979, and (b) the number of prosecutions in the year ending 31 January 1978 and the numbers pending for year ending 31 January 1979.

The confirmed outbreaks of sheep scab notified to the Department of Agriculture were: year ending 31 January 1978, 76 outbreaks; year ending 31 January 1979, 45 outbreaks.

As it is the function of each local authority to handle outbreaks in their own administrative area the details requested at (b) are not available in the Department.
