Vol. 311 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Industries.

8.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy if the IDA have received any firm proposals for the setting up of new industries on their sites in Dungarvan, Cappoquin, Lismore and Tallow, County Waterford; and the number of inquiries from industrialists in respect of these sites in the past year.

I am informed that in the period from 1 January 1978 to date the Industrial Development Authority brought a total of 29 promoters on visits to their sites in Dungarvan, Cappoquin, Lismore and Tallow.

The IDA's strategic 72-acre site in Dungarvan is being promoted for a large-scale industry requiring a substantial volume of water, but there are no firm proposals before the authority at present. The authority are at an early stage of negotiation with three overseas companies for the establishment of new industries in Cappoquin, Lismore and Tallow.
