Written Answers. - Workers' Pay.
The following statement gives for each county, (a) the basic weekly rate of wages and the hourly equivalent of the basic weekly rate of wages which will be paid to forestry workers under the terms of the second phase of the 1978 National Wage Agreement as from 1 March 1979 for a 40 hour week. An incentive bonus is payable in addition to those rates; (b) minimum weekly remuneration rates and the hourly equivalent of these rates payable to adult agricultural workers under the Employment Regulation Order (Agricultural Workers Joint Labour Committee) 1978, effective from 5 March 1979. These rates apply to 40 hours over a 5½ day week.
As regards county council road workers, local authorities will be authorised by the Department of the Environment within the next week or so to grant the second phase of the 1978 National Wage Agreement to workers who are due to receive that phase with effect from the 1 March. Details of rates of wages payable to road workers in individual county councils following the application of that phase will be compiled by the Department of the Environment and should be available within the next month or so.
