Vol. 312 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Canal Drainage.

28.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for Finance if he will arrange for the drainage of the Ballyconnell/Ballinamore [Woodford] canal, in the interests of agriculture and tourism in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

At present there are no specific proposals for the drainage of the Ballinamore/Ballyconnell Canal. However, the Commissioners of Public Works are carrying out a study of the canal to assess the feasibility of restoring it for navigation purposes and to determine the implications this would have on the drainage of the area.
