There are an estimated 2,900 smallholders in receipt of unemployment assistance in County Donegal of whom some 1,700 have their means from land assessed on a notional method of assessment related to their land valuations. Of these some 1,450 have valuations of up to £10, 150 have valuations over £10 to £15 and 100 have valuations over £15 to £20. The remaining 1,200 smallholders have their means assessed on a factual basis and statistics are not kept of their land valuations.
