Vol. 312 No. 6

Written Answers. - Clonmel Protestant School.

121.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the hardship endured by the teacher and children resulting from the long delay in the carrying out of essential repairs to the Protestant school, Western Road, Clonmel; if he will outline the proposals, if any, to remedy the situation; the cost involved, and the date on which work will commence.

122.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the urgent need for a new Protestant school Clonmel, County Tipperary; the up date position in respect of a site, a school plan, the cost; and the grants if any which may be available.

I propose, with the permission of Ceann Comhairle, to take Question Nos. 121 and 122 together.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 525 of 7 March 1978.

In regard to the proposed new school the position is that the site offered Mary Street was not regarded as suitable by the Office of Public Works and the offer of an alternative site by the school authorities is awaited.

No application has been received recently from the school authorities for the carrying out of repairs to the present premises pending the erection of the new school.
