Vol. 312 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Cork Flooding.

143.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will arrange with the Cork County Council to carry out a survey into the recent heavy flooding which caused much damage in the Ballingeary-Inchigeela area, County Cork and if he will take the necessary steps to prevent such occurrences.

The possibility of carrying out a scheme under the arterial drainage programme for portion of the Upper Lee, in which the area in question is situated, was investigated some years ago by way of engineering and valuation surveys but it was found that such a scheme would be totally uneconomic. A further survey would not be warranted.
