Vol. 313 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Waterford Land Acquisition.

265.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state in respect of each electoral area of County Waterford the following (a) names of estates held by the Land Commission (b) areas of each such estate held by the Land Commission (c) date of acquisition by the Land Commission (d) expected date of allotment by the Land Commission (e) in respect of each holding held over two years, the reasons for not subdividing and/or allocating each holding.

The information requested is set out in the following table. It is not possible to indicate when all the cases listed will be allotted but it is hoped that those marked with an asterisk will be allocated during 1979.

The position in regard to the three estates which are on the hands of the Land Commission for more than two years is as follows:

Heafey S 28163 In view of the number of deserving applicants for allotments for this estate it would not have been practicable to formulate a satisfactory division scheme for the property on its own. For that reason disposal of the lands has been deferred pending acquisition of a nearby estate of Fitzgerald, Record No. S 28951, comprising 36 hectares, possession of which is to be taken shortly. It is hoped to formulate a composite division scheme for the two estates with a view to division early in 1980.

Kinsella EEC/UC 6135 It was not practicable to deal with the allocation of this estate any sooner. A division scheme has been formulated with a view to allotment this spring.

Lyons S 28097 It would not have been practicable to formulate a satisfactory division scheme for this comparatively small estate on its own. The Land Commission expect to obtain possession of a nearby estate of O'Donoghue, Record No. S 29465, comprising 14 hectares, later this year and both estates would then be taken together for allocation purposes.
