Vol. 313 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cork Agricultural College.

268.

asked the Minister for Agriculture his plans for building an agricultural college in the Cork area; and as a large number of students are being refused entry into the existing colleges, if he will consider in the short term enlarging the existing colleges in the Cork area.

I have no plans to build an agricultural college in the Cork area. However, it is intended to increase residential student places at the agricultural college at Clonakilty and at some of the other colleges. It is also proposed to further develop local part-time vocational training in agriculture and for this purpose additional agricultural education centres are being provided at various centres throughout the country, including a number in County Cork.

The objective of this policy which is included in the White Paper on National Development is to provide education and training opportunities for all young men and women entering farming.
