Vol. 313 No. 3

Written Answers. - Primary School Inspectors.

270.

asked the Minister for Education in relation to primary school inspectors employed by his Department, (a) the number of male (b) the number of female, and (c) the number in each category who have experience of teaching in infant classes.

There are 79 male primary school inspectors and six female.

It would entail an inordinate and unjustified amount of research to trace back the actual classes in which an inspector taught in the course of his or her teaching experience. I can assure the Deputy, however, that all the inspectors who were trained as national school teachers are qualified by virtue of their training to teach in infants' classes.
