Vol. 313 No. 10

Written Answers. - Children Living Rough.

274.

asked the Minister for Health the figures in respect of children at present sleeping or living rough in Dublin city and county and for the last five years if available; and if he will indicate how many of these children are itinerants.

The precise information requested by the Deputy is not available at present. However, a survey of the children sleeping or living rough in Dublin is being undertaken by HOPE, which is a voluntary organisation providing accommodation for homeless children in Dublin. This survey is being financially supported by the Eastern Health Board. The survey will, inter alia, establish the number of children from travelling families sleeping or living rough.
