(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that the higher education grant being paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan is confined to payment of the college fees and if he will authorise the payment of the full residential grant.
According to the information made available to my Department by Cavan County Council, the amount of the higher education grant being paid to the student in question is the amount payable in accordance with the Higher Education Grants Scheme, applicable in her case, namely the scheme of 1977, which does not permit the payment of a higher amount.
