Vol. 314 No. 6

Written Answers. - Meath Group Water Schemes.

259.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason group water schemes in County Meath are no longer eligible for EEC aid as from 31 December 1978.

FEOGA aid was available under Regulation 17/64/EEC for "Individual Projects" aimed at improving structural efficiency in the agricultural sector including group water schemes in County Meath. This scheme operated as a temporary measure until FEOGA expenditure on EEC Guidance Section "Common Measures", such as the farm modernisation scheme, reached the budgetary limit of 325 million units of account. The figure of 325 million units of account was reached in the 1978 Budget but, as an exceptional measure, the EEC Council of Agriculture Ministers extended the operation of FEOGA aid for "Individual Projects" to 1979. The relevant amendment Regulation 2992/78/EEC provided that final applications for FEOGA aid had to be lodged with the EEC Commission on or before 31 December 1978.
