Vol. 315 No. 5

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 9 (resumed), 10 (resumed), 11, 12 and 13; Private Members' Business from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.—No. 29 (resumed).

Will the Taoiseach say when it is proposed to take No. 16 on the Order Paper—the Transport (Miscellaneous) Provisions Bill? I understand this is a matter of urgency.

The Whips are meeting at the moment. They had a few meetings yesterday to see what business it is necessary to conclude. They are resuming their meetings this morning.

Item No. 16 is not on the list and I should like to have it added to the list.

Perhaps the Deputy would instruct his Whip to take up the matter with the Chief Whip.

Will the Minister say when CIE were informed of the price increases announced last night by the Government? My understanding is that the first they heard of it was when the Government Information Services issued a statement at 8.45 p.m. last evening.

That is not in order. I am calling item No. 9.

Will the Taoiseach answer the question?

The Chair has ruled it out of order.

I want to discourage questions that are not in order.

I think the idea of the Government forcing price increases on a public transport company is disgraceful.

Is the Deputy aware that they made an application to the National Prices Commission?

The company were not informed until 8.45 p.m. last night——

The Deputy said the price increase was forced on them.

They cannot implement it until next month——

I have called item No. 9.
