Vol. 315 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Isolation of Ballymun (Dublin) Families.

4.

asked the Minister for Health in view of the immediate danger to life caused by the inability of ambulance men, fire brigade personnel, nurses and doctors to gain access to Ballymun satellite town resulting in the isolation of families, young children and elderly persons, the plans, if any, to alleviate the situation.

I have made inquiries in the matter and I am satisfied that the position is not as outlined by the Deputy. Medical, nursing and ambulance personnel have ready access to Ballymun. I understand, however, that some of the lifts in the tower blocks have not been in operation and this has necessitated greater use of the stairs. While this may cause inconvenience I am informed that there is no immediate danger to life as suggested by the Deputy.

On a point of order, I would like to draw the Taoiseach's attention to the fact that the document referred to by the Taoiseach is not in the Library.

It is now in the Deputy's possession.

The Taoiseach misled the House.
