Vol. 315 No. 8

Written Answers.

67.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if a person (details supplied) qualifies for a living alone allowance and if an outline of the social welfare entitlements available would be given in this case.

A "living alone" allowance is only payable to a pensioner who is living entirely alone. The person concerned is living with her husband. Although she is in receipt of an adult dependant's allowance, at the higher rate, on his old age contributory pension she is not entitled to the "living alone" allowance.

If there are no others residing with the couple, they would be entitled to receive free electricity allowance and free television licence. A claim form for these benefits is available at any post office.
