Vol. 315 No. 8

Written Answers. - Meath Grant Allocation.

90.

asked the Minister for the Environment, in relation to the Special Environmental Grant Scheme, if Meath County Council are authorised to spend both the unspent balance of their 1978 allocation and their 1979 allocation during 1979, the amount involved and, if this is not spent, if any carry-over of funds to 1980 will be permissible.

An allocation of £89,000 for the year 1979 has been made for works under the Environmental Improvement Schemes Programme in County Meath including urban districts situated therein. The unspent balance of Meath's 1978 allocation was £71,000 approximately. The allocation for a particular year covers expenditure in respect of all works under the programme carried out in that year. The scheme does not provide for carry-over of the unspent balance of an allocation from one year to the next.
