The Deputy may be aware that I have authorised arrangements under which the art department of the Municipal Technical Institute, Dún Laoghaire, would be established as a separate school under the control of the Borough of Dún Laoghaire Vocational Education Committee.
The committee have accepted these arrangements as an interim measure and have expressed a wish that the position be considered again after a period of two years. The arrangements are in course of being implemented.

asked the Minister for Education the current position concerning the appointment by the Dún Laoghaire Vocational Education Committee of a Principal for the School of Art, Dún Laoghaire.
I am informed that at a recent meeting the Borough of Dún Laoghaire Vocational Education Committee decided to readvertise the post of Principal of the proposed School of Art and Design. The form and content of a new advertisement were discussed at a meeting between a deputation from the committee and officers of my Department on 16 October 1979.
