Vol. 316 No. 3

Written Answers. - Work Experience Programme.

308.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will outline the details of the arrangements made for the introduction of the work experience programme into Government Departments, and the number of young people each Department are expected to take up under the scheme.

The arrangements made for the introduction of the work experience programme into Government Departments were agreed between the Department of the Public Service and the staff unions and they are similar to those applying to participants in the programme with employers in the private sector. No specific number of participants has been fixed for Departments but it is hoped that each Department will offer as many places as possible. To date, 41 young persons have been placed in Government Departments under the programme.
