Vol. 316 No. 3

Written Answers. - Payment of Disabled People.

426.

asked the Minister for Health the proposals, if any, for payment of disabled people by cheque in the form of pension books, which would greatly reduce hardship to these persons from delays in the post and so on, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Books of cheques for disabled persons' maintenance allowance are already issued to recipients in some areas and this system will be extended to other areas as soon as the necessary arrangements can be made. Meanwhile arrangements have been made for the posting of cheques as early as the Monday of each week to avoid possible delays in delivery.
