Vol. 316 No. 3

Written Answers. - Laois Pension Applicant.

436.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reasons a full widow's pension has not been granted to an applicant (details supplied) in County Laois as this person has no other income.

The person concerned was awarded a widow's non-contributory pension at a reduced rate with effect from 23 March 1979 in accordance with means assessed on the value of a farm of 37 statute acres, PLV £21.65 in which she has a life interest. In determining the rate of pension allowance was made for labour supplied by her son and the first £6 a week of means was disregarded. She appealed against the award but the decision was upheld by an appeals officer.
