Vol. 316 No. 4

Written Answers. - Infant Mortality.

12.

asked the Minister for Health if any group has been established to study infant mortality in the State, and if not, why.

A committee who have been set up by the Medico-Social Research Board have drawn up proposals for a comprehensive study of infant mortality, with particular reference to sudden infant deaths. A pilot study to test the methodology of this comprehensive study is now in progress. The pilot study will be completed shortly and its results will be assessed by the board before the full study is undertaken.
