Vol. 316 No. 4

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

372.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if unemployment benefit will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork without delay.

All unemployment assistance due to the person concerned has been issued for payment to her at her nearest post office.

373.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to have an old age pension book issued to persons (details supplied) in County Cork.

Non-contributory old age pension books at the maximum rate, payable from 12 October 1979, together with arrears due, have now been issued to the persons concerned.

374.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to have a widow's pension and death grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person concerned was awarded a widow's contributory pension at the maximum rate appropriate to a widow with no dependent children with effect from 20 February 1979. A pension order book payable from 5 October 1979 has been issued and arrears of pension due from 20 February 1979 to end of September 1979 will issue shortly.

Her claim for a death grant has been forwarded to the British Department of Health and Social Security for consideration as the contribution conditions for the payment of a death grant under the Social Welfare Acts are not satisfied on her late husband's Irish insurance record.

375.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to have a retirement pension paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person concerned has not sufficient Irish insurance to entitle him to a retirement pension under Irish legislation. However, he worked in Britain for approximately 15 years and should, therefore, qualify for a proportionate Irish pension on aggregation of his British and Irish insurance under EEC regulations. In addition to qualifying for an Irish proportionate pension he may also qualify for a separate British pension.

Details of his Irish insurance have been furnished to the British Department of Health and Social Security who have been asked to furnish particulars of his British insurance record to my Department. The British authorities have been asked to forward the necessary information as a matter of urgency and when this is received his pension claim will be decided immediately.
