Vol. 316 No. 4

Written Answers. - Headage Grant Payments.

381.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the number of headage grant payments still outstanding for 1978 for (a) the entire State, and (b) the constituency of Cork South-West.

Out of 102,021 applications for headage grants in 1978, 1,439 remain to be cleared. It is not possible to furnish separate information for Cork South-West but in the disadvantaged area of County Cork as a whole, which comprises parts of Cork South-West and Mid-Cork, there are 71 applications awaiting clearance.

The difficulties in the unresolved cases arise because of problems in regard to such matters as ownership, management, split holdings, herd registration and so on. In most instances action by or on behalf of the applicants is being awaited.

382.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to have a headage grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

Payment in this case has been made.
