Vol. 316 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Garda Strength.

356.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has received representations from Dún Laoghaire Chamber of Commerce concerning the need for additional gardaí in Dún Laoghaire and if he will ensure that extra gardaí are provided without delay.

I have received the representations referred to by the Deputy.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the current strength at Dún Laoghaire is the maximum that can be provided at present having regard to overall resources and other demands on Garda services. The question of increasing the strength at the centre will, however, be further considered as soon as additional manpower becomes available for assignment.
