Vol. 316 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dungarvan By-Pass.

167.

asked the Minister for the Environment when it is intended to provide the necessary finance for the proposed by-pass road at Dungarvan, County Waterford.

I have advised Waterford County Council that traffic volumes, as indicated in the Dungarvan Traffic Study, would not warrant the development of the full diversion road for some years but that in the meantime I would have no objection to the council developing proposals for a new road linking the Clonmel Road with Shandon Road, as a first phase, provided a suitable location for a bridge over the Colligan River can be identified.

The question of providing the necessary finance for the new road will be considered when the council's detailed proposals have been received.
