Vol. 316 No. 7

Written Answers. - Hotel Industry.

348.

asked the Minister for industry, Commerce and Energy the reason the hotel industry is to be exempted from detailed price control for the 1980 season.

Hotels were exempted from detailed price control on the recommendation of the National Prices Commission.

The commission's recommendation was based on a detailed examination of the position of the industry, having regard to such factors as the level of profitability, increased costs and the export earnings of the industry. The commission's views on the matter are contained in their Monthly Report No. 85 for June 1979, copies of which were laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas and circulated to all Deputies and Senators.
