Vol. 317 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Blackrock (County Dublin) Traffic Hazard.

17.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make representations to the Corporation of Dún Laoghaire concerning the extremely dangerous traffic hazard contained within the Newtown Avenue/Seapoint Avenue corner at Blackrock, County Dublin; and if he will request the local authority concerned to prepare a road traffic improvement plan for this area.

It is a matter for the road authority concerned, Dún Laoghaire Corporation, to initiate proposals for the improvement of the road in question, having regard to, inter alia, safety aspects.

The planning and execution of road improvements at this location would not require to be submitted for my sanction. Any such works, including traffic management works, would fall to be financed from the corporation's own resources supplemented by the general (block) grant provided annually by my Department. In these circumstances I do not intend to accede to the Deputy's request.
