Vol. 317 No. 1

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

331.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will provide a minimum of three telephone lines for the Eastern Health Board, Naas, County Kildare, in their temporary premises, in view of the volume of business transacted by them, if so, when and if not, the reasons why.

The application, which was made a month ago, was for two lines only. One of these has already been provided and the possibility of providing the other line without delay is being examined.

332.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in the provision of a telephone service for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

Arrangements are already in train to provide service and it is expected that terms will be quoted to the applicant within the next two weeks or so. Service could not be provided earlier because of the heavy volume of applications and other engineering work in the Waterford district generally.

333.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reasons why the telephone subscribers in the Tubber area, County Clare, have had their service reduced from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. to 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and if he will now ensure that the hours of 8 a.m.-10 p.m. are reinstated in this area.

The hours are restricted because the postmistress was unable to provide for the service. Arrangements are being made to divert Tubber subscribers to Gort exchange where continuous telephone attendance is given, within the next three months or so.

334.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if telephone subscribers of Tubber, County Clare, will be connected to the new automatic system proposed for Gort, County Galway, and, if so, when this new connection will take place.

It is planned to give Tubber subscribers automatic service from Gort exchange when the exchange there is connected to automatic working towards the end of 1980.

335.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for an applicant (details supplied) in County Dublin, in view of the fact that they have paid installation charges since 20 July last.

It is expected that service will be provided within the next two weeks or so. After the agreement was completed the work was delayed as a result of accidental damage by a third party to some of the equipment required for the provision of service.

336.
