asked the Minister for Education the number of VECs at present over-staffed according to the new Department regulations, the extent and nature of such overstaffing, the action that he proposes to take and if he is prepared to sanction any other teachers in such VEC areas while such overstaffing occurs.

On the basis of the provisional information available to my Department at the present time, it appears that in the case of nine vocational education committees the whole-time teacher equivalent staff may be temporarily in excess of the authorised allocation for 1979-80.
