Vol. 317 No. 4

Written Answers. - Sale of Land.

426.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he will arrange for payment to a person (details supplied) in respect of land sold to his Department last March.

The payment referred to by the Deputy is in respect of a share of a commonage which commonage the shareholders agreed to sell to the Forest and Wildlife Service of my Department. The acquisition proceedings under the Forestry Acts, 1946 and 1956, instituted in respect of the lands with the consent of the shareholders are nearing completion. My Department expect to take possession of the commonage within two months immediately following which the compensation will be paid.
