Vol. 317 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin Disability Benefit Claim.

370.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when it is proposed to pay the claim of £195 to a person (details supplied) in Dublin and the reasons he is deemed to be no longer eligible for disability benefit.

The person concerned was paid occupational injury benefit from 19 August 1978 to 16 February 1979 and disability benefit from 17 February 1979 to 27 August 1979. Payment of disability benefit was disallowed after that date following his examination by a medical referee of my Department who expressed the opinion that he was capable of work. He claimed unemployment benefit from 11 September 1979 and is presently in receipt of that benefit at £38 a week, the maximum rate for a man, wife and two qualified children.

His entitlement to pay-related benefit, the exact amount of which has not yet been determined, is still under consideration as certain inquiries are necessary to establish his reckonable earnings in the 1978-79 income-tax year. It is expected that these inquiries will be finalised shortly. Any arrears of pay-related benefit due will then be paid immediately.
