Vol. 317 No. 6

Written Answers. - Level of Blood Alcohol.

356.

asked the Minister for the Environment if any review of the permitted level of blood alcohol has been undertaken since it was lowered from 125ml to 100ml.

This matter is kept under continuous review, in the light inter alia of the analyses carried out by the Medical Bureau of Road Safety of blood and urine specimens referred to them by the Garda. I am satisfied that experience since the reduction of the statutory limit from 125 to 100mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood does not indicate the need for a further change at this stage.
