Vol. 317 No. 9

Written Answers. - Community Care Programme.

353.

asked the Minister for Health if, arising out of recent regulations it is proposed to make it mandatory on all community care programme managers to follow up any notification received from the gardaí in respect of itinerant children; if effective temporary care and accommodation in these cases will be provided; and if it is proposed to direct all hospitals to notify the local programme manager when itinerant adults are hospitalised.

Arrangements are being made to automatically notify the appropriate director of community care, whenever a travelling person is admitted to hospital. The director will then take whatever action is necessary to ensure that the travelling person's family will receive appropriate care and shelter while the parent is in hospital.
