asked the Minister for Finance the current total current amount of PAYE tax deducted by employers from the remuneration of their employees outstanding to the Revenue Commissioners between 1960-61 and 1977-78 and the number of employers concerned.

On the basis of returns furnished by employers in relation to the tax years 1960-61 to 1977-78 inclusive the PAYE tax outstanding to the Revenue Commissioners at 31 January 1980 was £6,918,841. The total number of employers involved was 4,671.
