Vol. 318 No. 3

Written Answers. - Milk Cream Content.

411.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to consumer dissatisfaction with the diminished cream content of milk delivered to the door and purchased in shops, the measures proposed for the constant monitoring of cream content in milk and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am not aware of any evidence that the cream content of milk delivered to the door or purchased in shops has diminished nor of consumer dissatisfaction in this regard. Milk is sampled regularly at retail outlets by officers of health boards and tested by public analysts and the milk-fat content is usually above the legal minimum limit of 3 per cent.
