Vol. 318 No. 5

Written Answers. - Northern Ireland Pensions.

23.

asked the Minister for Finance the action he proposes to take to provide service for the Northern Ireland pensioners who cannot have their cheques cashed here owing to the dispute in the Northern and Ulster Banks.

I regret that I am not in a position to provide a service for Northern Ireland pensioners living here who cannot have their cheques cashed because of the industrial action in the Northern Ireland branches of the associated banks.

The problem would appear to be one for the relevant authorities in Northern Ireland. I have, however, arranged for my Department to maintain informal contact with the Irish Banks' Standing Committee to see if a solution can be found.
